When we're together everything's better

When we're together everything's better

Today is the International Day of Happiness, and according to Action for Happiness , this is one of the ten keys to Happiness. We found this in their guide and wanted to share it, because we know how important the people who matter to you are.

In 2012, the United Nations declared March 20th as the International day of Happiness. Why – because the UN believes that in order to attain global happiness, economic development must be accompanied by social and environmental well-being.

The initiative to declare a day of happiness came from Bhutan – a country whose citizens are considered to be some of the happiest people in the world. The Himalayan Kingdom has championed an alternative measure of national and societal prosperity, called the Gross National Happiness Index (GNH). The GNH rejects the sole use of economic and material wealth as an indicator of development, and instead adopts a more holistic outlook, where spiritual well-being of citizens and communities is given as much importance as their material well-being.

The International Day of Happiness has developed a world-wide following, and activities around the world focus not only on what needs to be done to make the world a better place, but also involves people trying to make a difference to themselves, and those around them – which is where Action for Happiness is focused.

So make the most of this day – and get out there and make a difference! Whether it be trying something you’ve never tried before, getting some fresh air and exercise to rejuvenate your body, or spending time with those near and dear to you – make sure it’s a day where you find and create more happiness than normal.

As Aesop said “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted” (for an Ancient Greek story-teller he said some pretty smart things).

So from the team here at Pinnacle Life – have a wonderful Day of Happiness.
